I'm a new avocado grower and I started with the seed on March and repot it in the soil somewhere around in July. Just to note something maybe important here, is that while I was repoting it, inside the pot I added some of the common blue little balls fertilizer.
The avocado started to grow very well until at some point started to display some brown spots on the lower leaves as well as at their surrounding (see pictures). These spots are getting bigger and bigger until the leaf dies. Also something else that I noticed on the upper leaves is that their green color is getting lighter than the green color of the veins.
Are those symptoms due to a disease or a nutrient deficiency or is it something else?
thanks for the pictures. It's normal that older leaves are dying and fall off. As long as they are more new ones growing there is no problem. The younger leaves are lighter in color at the beginning but as they get older they will darken in color. But sometimes when the plant doesn't get enough light the leaves also get brown. I would suggest buying a plant lamp for the fall to spring season to give your plant some extra light (Amazon: https://amzn.to/2wwhT0p). We had some great results with it. About the fertilizer, we use the one made for citrus trees (Amazon: https://amzn.to/2PipCGm).
