What happens to the seed after potting?

Postby KjC » Tue May 21, 2019 11:05 am

Hello,

What happens to the avocado seed as the tree grows? Does it eventually dry and fall off or is it absorbed into the trunk? Should I have any concerns about the seed pinching or deforming the trunk as it grows? One of mine I've been "training" to grow a thicker trunk is touching the seed edges on both sides. It occurred to me to look this up but any mention of seed or pit in a search term with avocado only returns two pages of cheerful "how to grow an avocado from seed!"

Thanks!

Hello,

the seed will dry out and crumble away after about 6-12 months. So no worries.
During repotting it can also fall of that's normally no issue for the plant.

Thanks,

Daniel
